The annual BIIA Holiday Lights Decorating Contest will be held this season with the following dates:

Entry Application Period:    11/06/22 through 12/5/22

Judging Period:                    12/8/22 through 12/11/22

Winners Announced:            12/14/22

Please complete the online form below to enter your home into the BIIA Holiday Lights Contest for 2022.  Below find the rules and guidelines, if you have any questions please contact Irene Yonkers at (949) 433-2229.

1. Participation is open to all Balboa Island Improvement Association members. If you are not a member, membership forms can be obtained on the website at www.balboaislandnb.org.

2. Entry applications must be received no later than 5PM on Sunday, December 4, 2022.

3. Contest is for exterior decorations only, including decorations in windows that are visible from the exterior. Judging will be done from outside the residence only.

4. Judging will be based on “curb appeal” as viewed from the street only. Therefore, only those decorations located on the street side of the property will be judged (corner lots will be judged from both streets). 

5. Participants agree to have one or more photos of their decorated residence exterior posted on the website or published in the BIIA newsletter. There will be no compensation of any kind for said posting or publication.

6. Trophies are awarded to top scoring homes. Judging criteria will include: creative use of lights and decorations, display and placement of decorations, coverage, overall appeal and presentation.

7. Preliminary judging will be done from 6:30PM to 10:00PM on December 8th, December 9th and December 10th. Final judging will take place from 6:30PM to 10:00PM on December 11th. 

8. Participants should ensure that all lights, animations and decorations are in place and activated for the judging periods on ALL nights of judging.

9. Winners will be announced on by email.
